What a Stud

Studs were huge on the fall runways, being shown everywhere from Givenchy to Lanvin to Fendi. Some were 100% rocker on leather jackets, some were contrasting with feminine dresses, some were embellished on handbags and clutches. Either way, they are a huge trend, and I love it. Some runway looks including studs are below:

Fendi

Just ignore that little fur underlay thing, just look at the dress. =] I love these bell sleeves and sleek studs, instead of them just being scattered everywhere.

Fendi

Ditto with the fur. I love this subtle stud look, with the black-on-black. The swirly pattern is so cool. Layering it over the turtleneck and tights gives the dress a more wintry feel, which I love.

Fendi

I love this low cowl neck sweater dress. The way the studs are placed is also really cool, and for some reason reminds me of a motorcycle jacket...

Givenchy

This is really interesting. The five oversized studs are so cool! I think this is the most inventive I've seen with studs- Givenchy was really original with the stud use.

Givenchy

This is just awesome. The jacket is pretty wearable, just pair it with some black skinny jeans and black flats for a edgy rocker vibe.

Givenchy

Okay, not so wearable, but still really neat and edgy. I am completely in love with oversized studs now!

Givenchy

Same thing- not really wearable, but how fun is it to look at? And I love the dress-top thing under it..
Lanvin

If you want a more subtle approach to the stud trend, try them discreetly lining the sides of a chic pencil skirt like we saw at Lanvin.

Get the Look:

You can easily incorporate studs into your wardrobe. If you aren't too daring and don't want to go all out with a studded dress or jacket, try it on a bag or some accessories, like the Burberry Knight Bag.

This adds visual interest to any outfit- I especially like it with an all-black outfit for a sophisticated-chic look.

Some more accessories-

The Fallon Jewelry Circle/Square Stud Bangle at ShopBop is really cool- it's a fun way to accessorize your outfit. I love the mix of the circles and studs.

This Pyramid Stud Ring from Urban Outfitters is a perfect way to make a boring outfit funky and edgy with the oversized stud.

The Christian Louboutin Mad Mary Suede Mary Janes are absolutely gorgeous- there aren't too many studs, so they're still very wearable. Mary Janes are also huge for fall, and making it into a platform shoe makes it modern and chic.

The Prada Vernice Ricamo Flat is a perfect blend of feminine and rocker. The bow paired with the studs is a fabulous juxtaposition, and the shiny patent is a great accent.

If you want to try the studded look, go with some of these pieces:

This 3.1 Phillip Lim Wool Coat at Scoop NYC is perfectly chic for a winter day. This coat is elegant and sophisticated, but I love how the gold studs act as buttons.

I love the Alice + Olivia Stud Short Sleeve Tee at ShopBop. A simple t-shirt jazzed up with tons of studs is perfect to dress up a pair of jeans, but still being comfortable and cute.

Catherine Malandrino Silver Stud Short Sleeve Dress. In love. Absolutely in love. It's simple, it's chic. And I love it.

These details on this Development Stud Detail Top are gorgeous- the gathering, the rich color (all very feminine), but the studs on the sleeves have a nice contrast.

I adore this bright emerald green on this Karta Allover Stud Mini Dress. This can transition perfectly into fall/winter with a pair of tights and a black blazer, as well as being a great summer dress.

These McQ by Alexander McQueen Stud Detailed Jeans are a lot simpler than McQueen's usual, but are still very cool and downtown. These cropped black jeans would look great with a printed button down with a short sleeved sweater or sweatshirt like they did on Net-a-Porter.

I love this look.

  4. Excellent post! I <3 studs. Although my best friend and I were at Nordstrom the other day and she said of the Burberry bag "it looks like a meat tenderizer mallet". I was shocked she should so malign it, I thought it was Be-yoo-diful.
